System guidelines will be followed except that:

  1. Applicants must take the nursing pre-admission exam (NLN-PAX_RN) within three years of anticipated admission.
  2. Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN’s) seeking admission must have graduated from a LPN program of study within one year of admission to the nursing program or provide verification of at least one year of full-time employment within the last three years.
  3. Initial admission applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 from any regionally accredited college.
  4. Initial admission applicants must score a minimum of 50% in the reading and science categories and 100 in the comprehensive category on the NLN-PAX_RN exam.
  5. Licensed Practical Nurses or PN applicants seeking admission to the ADN program must score a minimum of 50% in the reading and science categories and 100 in the comprehensive category on the NLN-PAX_RN exam.
  6. A cumulative high school GPA will be used for grade calculation for any applicant who is currently enrolled in high school at the time of application to the nursing program.
  7. Applicants previously admitted to the BCTC ADN program who have earned a failing grade in the first nursing course may be accepted for only one additional admission.
  8. Applicants with 12 or more KCTCS credit hours may request a GPA recalculation for all non-KCTCS coursework that has not been applied to an awarded credential. The coursework must be five years (or older) from the ADN admission application deadline date.

Preference

Preference may be given to:

  1. Applicants with NLN_PAX_RN reading and science category scored at or above 60% and a comprehensive score at or above 111.
  2. Applicants who have completed 12 or more credit hours in the approved curriculum with a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or better from any regionally accredited college.

Readmission

The system guidelines will be used with the following exceptions:

  1. Results of the NLN PAX-RN scores will be used for the admission process. The exam must have been taken within three years of anticipated readmission.
  2. The student must provide letters of reference from two faculty members (one must be from a full-time nursing faculty member) in the semester in which the student withdrew or earned lower than a grade of "C" in Nursing.

Transfer

  1. Applicants previously admitted to another nursing program who have earned a failing grade in a nursing course or program will not be accepted as advanced standing status to the BCTC ADN program.
  2. Transfer applicants must score a minimum of 50% in the reading and science categories and 100 in the comprehensive category on the NLN-PAX_RN exam.
